A testimony to Samantha's dedication reads that, " A patient was admitted who had over time become a friend. We met during the multiple trips he made to the hospital with his wife who passed away about two years ago.While visiting his conversation would always return to the two greatest loves in his life, his wife who had passed and their home of many years . He spoke so proudly of the home he had built for them until his emotions prevented it. While visiting I was able to see first hand how Ms Black's coordination of care, equipment and resources between units , home health and family was instrumental in allowing my friend to return home. He died less than one week later. I can only imagine the peace and comfort he felt spending his last few days in the one place he loved above all others. Her efforts allowed this. This nomination is a small token of appreciation to recognize the daily efforts she puts into changing the lives of our patients and their families."

We are pleased to announce that Kathy Jackson, registered nurse for the Emergency Department of Cushing Memorial Hospital was named the Cushing 2007 Employee of the Year . Kathy received a $150 gift certificate, eight hours of paid time off and recognition in the local newspaper. Her formal portrait will be placed in CMH's Wall of Fame located on the first floor. Kathy, who was CMH's employee of the month in June, 2007, joined CMH in 2005. Here is a sampling of what one of her nominators wrote about Kathy: "She has always been wonderful to work with, very responsive and knowledgeable. She is a true professional in every sense of the word."
